WHEN: 3-class session / Mondays, Sept 14-28, from 3:30-5 PM
AGES: 8-12
DESCRIPTION: Led by ceramic artist Alayna Erne, young artists ages 5–8 will explore the exciting world of clay through creative handbuilding and an introduction to the pottery wheel. Students will learn foundational techniques such as pinching, coiling, slab building, scoring, smoothing, and adding texture as they create imaginative sculptures and functional pieces.
Artists will also have the opportunity to experience the pottery wheel while building confidence and developing fine motor skills. Through playful projects and plenty of creative exploration, students will discover the endless possibilities of working with clay and bring their ideas to life.
After School Sculpture class is offered every month from September-May for ages 8-12. During each 4-class monthly session, students will explore an arts-related topic, movement, or technique through a variety of 3D media such as clay, plaster, paper mache, or mixed materials. Because each monthly session offers a different theme and sets of projects, families are welcome to register for one session, a few, or the whole year!
