116 Capital Expansion
“This project is more than a renovation; it’s a promise to our community. A promise that creativity will always have a home here. That every artist, from curious beginner to seasoned professional, will have a place to explore, create, and belong.”
— Hannah Hammond-Hagman, CAC Executive Director

116 Expansion Project
For more than 60 years, Chesterton Art Center (CAC) has been a part of the Duneland Community. In that time, we have grown into the organization that we are today—a vibrant hub of artistic and cultural activity. CAC widens access to art through education, exhibitions, and outreach to build a creative community that includes everyone.
Every so often, an organization has a moment that defines its future. For CAC, this is that moment. We are moving forward with a transformational expansion of our facility—one that will reshape how we serve artists, students, and the broader public for generations to come.
Supporting Artists + Students
In September 2025, CAC acquired 116, located directly across the street from our existing facility. 116 represents an expansion of CAC’s operations and is scheduled to open to the community by early 2026.
Once renovated, the building will feature two studio classrooms that will house both a ceramics studio and 2D studio. Additionally, the building will serve as the hub for CAC’s growing ArtsConnect classes for adults aged 60+ and allow us to host larger community events and programs.
