DESCRIPTION: Instructed by Jen Aitchison, young artists will explore the fascinating world of nocturnal animals as they design their own imaginative creature sculptures using shapes, patterns, and bold colors. Students will create unique creature forms from cardboard, then transform them with painted patterns, textures, and creative details. Using simple construction techniques, artists will assemble their creatures and display them as one-of-a-kind mixed-media sculptures. This class celebrates imagination, design, and the joy of bringing creative ideas to life.
After School Art classes are offered every month from September-May for ages 5-18. During each 4-class monthly session, students will explore an arts-related topic, movement, or technique through a variety of 2D media such as watercolor, pastel, graphite, acrylic, or printmaking. Because each monthly session offers a different theme and set of projects, families are welcome to register for one session, a few, or the whole year!
