WHEN: 4 class session / Tuesdays, October 6-27 from 5-6:30 PM
DESCRIPTION: Artist Jen Aitchison leads this class, which guides young artists as they bring imaginative creatures to life through the art of moving sculpture. Students will design, build, and illustrate their own automata-inspired characters using cardboard, wire, and simple mechanisms that create real movement. Starting with sketches and creative planning, students will develop the personality and story of their creatures before transforming their ideas into three-dimensional sculptures. Through cutting, constructing, painting, and problem-solving, students will combine art, design, and movement to create unique creatures that truly come to life.
After School Art classes are offered every month from September-May for ages 5-16. During each 4-class monthly session, students will explore an arts-related topic, movement, or technique through a variety of 2D media such as watercolor, pastel, graphite, acrylic, or printmaking. Because each monthly session offers a different theme and set of projects, families are welcome to register for one session, a few, or the whole year!
