Cardboard Creatures: Sculptural Animal Masks, Teens / October 1-29

$90.00

WHEN: 4-class session / Thursdays, October 1-29, no class Oct 22, from 5:30-7 PM

DESCRIPTION:‍ ‍Join artist Jen Aitchison as this session of After School Art delves into the world of sculpture. Using cardboard as their primary material, teens will create playful animal mask sculptures that explore the art of three-dimensional form. Mrs. Jen will guide students through the planning process in their sketchbooks before they bring their imaginative creations to life. Students will learn sculpture techniques including cutting, shaping, layering, taping, and construction while designing expressive creatures full of personality. As they build, students will use trial and error to solve structural challenges, refine their designs, and transform simple materials into unique sculptural works of art.

After School Art classes are offered every month from September-May for ages 5-18. During each 4-class monthly session, students will explore an arts-related topic, movement, or technique through a variety of 2D media such as watercolor, pastel, graphite, acrylic, or printmaking. Because each monthly session offers a different theme and set of projects, families are welcome to register for one session, a few, or the whole year!
