WHEN: 3-class session / Thursdays, December 3-17, from 5:30-7 PM
DESCRIPTION: Join artist Jen Aitchison as teen artists explore the idea of bringing light and warmth to the darkest month of the year. Students will design and carve their own printing block, creating an original image centered around a source of light—real or imagined. Through guided instruction in shape, line, texture, and value, students will learn how to translate their ideas into a strong printmaking design. They’ll then explore carving, inking, and printing techniques to create a finished block print where value, contrast, and composition make the light feel as though it is glowing from within the artwork.
After School Art classes are offered every month from September-May for ages 5-18. During each 4-class monthly session, students will explore an arts-related topic, movement, or technique through a variety of 2D media such as watercolor, pastel, graphite, acrylic, or printmaking. Because each monthly session offers a different theme and set of projects, families are welcome to register for one session, a few, or the whole year!
