WHEN: 4-class session / Wednesdays, November 11- December 9, 6-8 PM with no class on November 25.
AGES: Adults, 18+
DESCRIPTION: Join artist Kim Vander Vinne for a workshop devoted to capturing the unique character and personality of animals through watercolor! Students will learn how to capture both the likeness and spirit of their subject by simplifying forms, refining key features, and working within a thoughtful, limited color palette. Emphasis will be placed on observing expression, gesture, and the subtle character traits that make each animal special.
Participants will also explore the differences between hot press and cold press paper, gaining insight into how each surface influences texture, edge quality, and the handling of fur and expressive details. Reference photos will be provided, or students are welcome to bring their own image of an animal they would like to paint.
Create a meaningful work of art inspired by a beloved animal—or paint a custom portrait to give as a meaningful holiday gift!
SKILL LEVEL: Intermediate and above
LOCATION: Vinay and Suman Das Foundation 2d Studio across the street at 116

SUPPLIES: Students must bring the following watercolor colors in their preferred brand:
Alizarin Crimson
Cadmium Orange
Cobalt Blue
Yellow Ochre
Basic brushes will be available, but students are encouraged to bring their own if they have them.
