Ceramics: Handbuilding + Wheel / October 14- November 18

WHEN: 4-class session / Wednesdays, October 14-November 18 from 9 AM-12 PM

AGES: Adults, 18+

DESCRIPTION: With guidance from Maureen Duffy Dauvigatis,, students will explore foundational ceramics techniques, with an introduction to the pottery wheel—giving each participant the opportunity to try wheel throwing and practice skills like centering, opening and pulling—as well as handbuilding methods such as pinching, slab construction, and coiling. Students will also learn how to refine and complete their work using a range of decorative and glazing techniques. Throughout the course, participants will primarily focus on handbuilding while rotating in time on the wheel to create a selection of finished ceramic pieces. The Center will fire all pieces.

SKILL LEVEL: Beginners & advanced beginners / Higher-level students can work on independent projects per instructor approval

CAC CANCELLATION POLICY: No refunds are permitted for tuitions paid for educational programs. Participants may receive a 50% tuition credit that can be used for a future educational program at CAC. No credits will be given the day class is to start or after the start of the educational program. Should CAC cancel any educational program, all participants will receive a full refund.
