Understanding Color in Water Media / July 8- July 29

WHEN: 4-class session / Wednesdays, July 8-July 29, 1-4 PM

AGES: Adults, 18+

DESCRIPTION: Join artist Kim Vander Vinne in this investigation into the possibilities color in watercolor and other water-based media. This class is focused on understanding how color can bring interest and excitement to your paintings. Students will learn how color works by experimenting with limited palettes and practice layering. Emphasis will be placed on understanding the unique characteristics of your paints, making thoughtful color choices, and using contrast and layering to create interest and energy within a composition.

SKILL LEVEL: Intermediate and above

LOCATION: The Vinay and Suman Das 2d Studio across the street at 116

TUITION: $115 for nonmembers / $103.50 for current CAC members, enter code CACMEMBER at checkout to receive 10%-member discount

SUPPLIES: Students are expected to bring:

  • A variety of watercolor brushes

  • Painting palette with mixing wells

  • Watercolor paints you are accustomed to

  • Board to tape paintings to, ex. Foam board, Masonite, gator board 9x12 to 12x16 size

  • Spray bottle

  • Tape

    Some paint and paper will be supplied by CAC.

CAC CANCELLATION POLICY: No refunds are permitted for tuitions paid for educational programs. Participants may receive a 50% tuition credit that can be used for a future educational program at CAC. No credits will be given the day class is to start or after the start of the educational program. Should CAC cancel any educational program, all participants will receive a full refund.
