INSTRUCTOR: Mary Ann Pals
DESCRIPTION: With instruction from IAPS Master Circle pastelist Mary Ann Pals, students will work from reference photos and learn how to effectively use a variety of different marks and strokes on paper to create a vibrant pastel painting.
Mary Ann will give demonstrations and will also provide individual help to students.
SKILL LEVEL: Advanced beginner + above; previous pastel experience required
LOCATION: Downstairs classroom

SUPPLIES: Students are expected to bring the following supplies:
A variety of hard, medium, and soft dry pastels from reputable brands. If you need colors that are not in your set, some miscellaneous pastels will be available during class.
Paper — bring 2-3 pastel paper sheets, 8 x 10 in. or larger. Recommendations: UART, Colourfix, PastelMat, LaCarte

Eraser
Charcoal (not graphite) pencil or medium gray pastel pencil
Hard board or piece of foam core (around 16 x 20 in.), clips or painter's tape
Small sketchbook or notebook
Reference photos that inspire you
