WHEN: 4 class session / Tuesdays, April 7-28 from 5-6:30 PM (New Time!)
DESCRIPTION: Artist Jen Aitchison leads this class focused on drawing and painting trees through bold, expressive color. Students will explore the Fauvist art movement, drawing inspiration from artists such as Henri Matisse and André Derain. Beginning with observational drawing, students will learn tree structure, shading, and form—building confidence as they learn how to visually capture trunks, branches, and foliage, which can often feel intimidating. Once drawings are complete, students will add vivid, Fauvist-inspired colors, experimenting with unexpected color combinations to create bold forest filled artworks.
After School Art classes are offered every month from September-May for ages 5-16. During each 4-class monthly session, students will explore an arts-related topic, movement, or technique through a variety of 2D media such as watercolor, pastel, graphite, acrylic, or printmaking. Because each monthly session offers a different theme and set of projects, families are welcome to register for one session, a few, or the whole year!
