Goldfish with Watercolor + Ink Workshop / April 9
WHEN: 1-day workshop / Thursday, April 9 from 9-3 PM, with a 1-hour lunch break
AGES: Adults, 18+
DESCRIPTION: Join Herb Helm for a guided watercolor and ink workshop where you’ll create a beautiful piece featuring goldfish. Students will explore both experimental and traditional watercolor techniques, embracing the fluidity of water media in striking contrast with bold linework.
Students who have taken previous workshops with Herb have the option to bring past pieces for continued guidance and personalized feedback.
SKILL LEVEL: Advanced beginners + above
LOCATION: Upstairs classroom
TUITION: $110 for non-members / $99 for current CAC members (enter code CACMEMBER at checkout to receive 10%-member discount)
SUPPLIES: Students are expected to bring the following supplies:
Professional grade watercolor tube paints, bring a pure red (ex.: Pyrrol, Napthal, or Quinacridone Rose), yellow (ex.:Hansa light or medium, Azo, or Arylide), blue (ex. Antwep, UItramarine), brown and black, as well as what other colors you may have.
Micron Pen (black ink), in 08, Could be helpful to have 03 and 05 as well.
Paper: Recommend Arches Watercolor Paper cold press, 11×15 or slighly larger
Palette
3 small saucers, or containers that you can mix paint in and splatter from, with a large brush for each.
Paint brushes – a variety of sizes, including size 1-2 (round), a size 3-5 (round) and one larger.
Masking fluid
Masking tape
Toothbrush (optional)
X-Acto knife (optional)
Water sprayer bottle (don’t forget) – one that can create droplets, not just mist. A mist one is ok also, but you still want one that can do droplets.
If you have a given shape or color of a goldfish you want to paint feel free to bring a reference image, otherwise some examples will be given in class.

CAC REFUND POLICY: No full refunds are permitted for tuitions paid for educational programs. Participants may receive a 50% tuition credit that can be used for a future educational program at CAC. After the start of, or the day of, the educational program, no refunds or credits will be given. Should CAC cancel any educational program, all participants will receive a full refund.
