Drawing Urban Landscapes: Downtown Chesterton / Sept 10 -Oct 1

WHEN: 4-class session / Wednesday, September 10-October 2, from 10 AM-12 PM

AGES: Adults, 18+

DESCRIPTION: With guidance from Diana Stezalski, this class will encourage students to bring their sketchbooks outside and develop their observational drawing skills with inspiration from the charm of Downtown Chesterton! Line, tone, perspective, composition, and technique will be addressed as students respond to the historic buildings and tree lined sidewalks surrounding them. Students will utilize a variety of drawing media including ink pens, charcoal, pastel, and graphite. Students must be comfortable walking to local locations and working outside, weather permitting.

SKILL LEVEL: Beginner + above / All skill levels welcome

LOCATION: Upstairs classroom + outdoors

TUITION: $125 for non-members / $112.50 for current CAC members, enter code CACMEMBER at checkout to receive 10% member discount

SUPPLIES: Students are expected to bring the following supplies:

  • Vine charcoal (soft and medium)

  • Charcoal pencil

  • White chalk pencil

  • Black conte stick

  • 1 bristle brush

  • Plumb line (simply a piece of string/fishline with a weight attached to it)

  • Small mirror

  • Fixative (optional)

  • Sketchbook (optional)

CAC CANCELLATION POLICY: No refunds are permitted for tuitions paid for educational programs. Participants may receive a 50% tuition credit that can be used for a future educational program at CAC. No credits will be given the day class is to start or after the start of the educational program. Should CAC cancel any educational program, all participants will receive a full refund.
