Ceramics: Surface Design with Sgraffito / Jan 10
WHEN: 1-day workshop / Saturday, January 10 from 1 PM-4 PM
AGES: Adults, 18+
DESCRIPTION: Join ceramicist Kirsten Serrano for a hands-on workshop in surface design with a special focus on sgraffito techniques. Perfect for anyone curious about adding color, pattern, and texture to their pottery, this class will guide you through the process of bringing clay surfaces to life. Each student will receive two handmade pieces of greenware—a small trinket dish and a vase—and learn how to layer underglazes and slips, carve through the surface to reveal contrasting colors, and develop a strong sense of rhythm and balance in their designs. By the end of the workshop, you’ll have the skills and confidence to use sgraffito to create rich, dynamic surfaces that combine precision, pattern, and personal expression. All pieces will be fired and clear glazed by CAC.
SKILL LEVEL: Advanced Beginner + above / All levels are welcome
LOCATION: Use the south door next to mural, Downstairs classroom

SUPPLIES: A $25 supply fee is due to the instructor at the beginning of class. All materials are provided, 2 handmade greenware pieces, glazing & firing

CAC CANCELLATION POLICY: No refunds are permitted for tuitions paid for educational programs. Participants may receive a 50% tuition credit that can be used for a future educational program at CAC. No credits will be given the day class is to start or after the start of the educational program. Should CAC cancel any educational program, all participants will receive a full refund.
