Education Director

Chesterton Art Center is seeking an Education Director who will implement and oversee the breadth of in-house and outreach visual arts education programs that make us who we are and fulfill our mission of building access to art for our Duneland community and beyond. This position is a minimum of 30 hours/week beginning at $18.00 per hour and reports to CAC's Executive Director.

The Education Director is responsible for:

• Designing and implementing programs that align with the core mission values of CAC

• Maintaining a focus on equity, diversity, and inclusion for all CAC programs

• Hiring and overseeing CAC Instructors for both in-house and outreach programs and managing Instructor payroll

• Building and overseeing our year-round schedule of classes and workshops and summer camps

• Developing engaging and innovative curriculum for outreach programs and events and exhibition interpretive programs for a wide range of audiences

• Building and maintaining program budgets

• Designing and implementing evaluation and assessment procedures

• Handling inventory and ordering of all educational supplies and maintaining onsite classrooms

• Working closely with community and regional partners to deliver high-quality outreach programming, including CAC’s Youth Arts Outreach, Teen Arts Group, Family Art Days, Emerging Artist Society, and Art Visits programs.

• Representing CAC at community events

• Assisting Executive Director with grants as related to educational programs and events

• Delivering program information in a timely and organized manner to CAC’s Marketing Director

• Collaborating with CAC’s Front Desk Administrator to provide all necessary information for enrolled students

Expectations:

• Maintain a positive and welcoming space at CAC

• Focus on equity and access when designing and implementing CAC programs & educational events

• Maintain focus on personal and professional capacity

• Provide stellar and thoughtful service to all students and instructors

• Collaborate and communicate with all members of the CAC Team

Necessary Skills:

• Program management experience required

• Art education and/or teaching experience required

• Proficiency with Google Suite, Squarespace, MailChimp, and Microsoft required

• Proven verbal and written communication skills

• Comfort with public speaking

• Ability to multi-task and prioritize in small and fast-paced work environment
